Everton are keen on signing Anthony Elanga from Man United this summer.
Manchester United Football Club are in a period of transition. Erik ten Hag has started to implement his style and ideas on this squad, though some players will not fit into his plans.
This summer is about trying to move those guys on, though as of right now, it’s proving tough due to high wages that the fringe footballers at United are on.
One player who absolutely fits into that category is Anthony Elanga. The Swede, a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, barely featured last season. The talent is obviously there, he just doesn’t really fit into this structure.
Now, Foot Mercato have provided an update on Elanga’s future. They state that a Premier League side, Everton, are now showing an interest in signing the out-of-favour United attacker this summer.
Elanga featured in 26 games last season, most of those were as a late substitute. With Amad back, you’d imagine it’s only going to be even tougher for Elanga to get minutes.
It’s all about pre-season. Elanga while he’s still here, will be given some opportunity to prove his worth, though I do believe he’s fighting a losing battle at this moment in time. Ten Hag has made it pretty clear you’re going to have to be a special talent to break into his plans.
The ball is in Elanga’s court. A move away to Everton could well kickstart his career. The good news for the Swede is that he’s still so young aged just 21. The footballing world is at his feet. Be it at United or elsewhere, I do genuinely believe that he’s good enough to play at the highest level.
