Man United are deep in conversation with Nottingham Forest over the sale of Dean Henderson.
Manchester United Football Club are firmly in the hunt for a new goalkeeper during this window. David de Gea’s exit was somewhat expected, with Andre Onana now feeling like the number one player to fill that void.
However, there was a small window of opportunity for a certain Dean Henderson. The Englishman has been on the fringes of things in Manchester for the last few years.
He departed for Nottingham Forest on loan last term, taking a shot at United in the process. That was never going to go down well with Erik ten Hag.
From that point, a sale always looked like the most likely option for Hendo. Now, according to The Telegraph, United are ‘locked in talks’ with Forest over the sale of the 26-year-old.
Forest could look to sign two goalkeepers this summer, with Henderson their number one target for their available starting keeper slot.
After over a decade at the Theatre of Dreams, the player is now ‘prepared for a new challenge’ away from Manchester.
Henderson is currently still out injured, meaning he has remained in Manchester while the rest of the lads gear up to play their first pre-season game in Oslo later today.
At this point, I’d be truly shocked if Henderson ever played for United again. The Englishman’s plans are pretty clear, while the Red Devils should be able to get a pretty decent transfer fee to let him leave.
Let’s hope that the injury Henderson is dealing with isn’t scuppering any chances of this deal happening during this current transfer window. Hopefully, a move can be sorted sooner rather than later, so Ten Hag knows exactly what sort of budget he’s working with.
