Man United have made their decision on Will Fish, with the defender set to leave on loan again.
Manchester United Football Club are heading in the right direction under Erik ten Hag, though the squad still needs working on.
The Red Devils are starting to sanction loan deals for the upcoming campaign, with Will Fish set to head out again for the 2023/24 campaign.
The young defender spent last term with Hibernian, impressing North of the border. Now, he’s set to return to Scotland.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who state that the 20-year-old United defender ‘has agreed’ to leave on loan for the 2023/24 season.
Fish is with the squad for the Leeds United game today, so Ten Hag may look to see the centre-back in action before departing. He’s also set to be involved for United next Wednesday, during a game against Lyon in Edinburgh. Perhaps that’s when Fish will depart United as he’s already set to be in Scotland.
The young man was a first-team regular for Hibs after settling into his surroundings in Scotland. Interest in the centre-back was thought to be high, though the Easter Road outfit appear to have won the race.
I completely understand this decision. Fish is not going to be playing regularly at United for the upcoming season, so why not go back to where he’s comfortable in order to continue his development?
This does feel like the smart play right now, though upon his return, United will have a genuine decision to make about Fish. There’s only so much you can learn while out on loan and United are approaching that stage, albeit Fish is still relatively young.
