Man United are still eyeing Rasmus Hojlund, despite the fact that Harry Kane rumours are surfacing again.
At the start of the summer, Manchester United Football Club’s number one priority was signing a new striker. The Red Devils need that reliable hitman who can guarantee goals, as Anthony Martial simply cannot be trusted.
The Old Trafford side wanted Harry Kane initially, though that deal died pretty quickly. Attention then turned to Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta.
Yesterday, Kane stories started to resurface, with Tottenham Hotspur potentially forcing the Englishman out of the exit door now, so they do not lose him for free next summer.
However, Fabrizio Romano believes United ‘remain focused’ on the Atalanta striker Hojlund, who scored 10 goals across all competitions last season. That’s despite the Kane stories.
Romano adds that an opening bid for Hojlund is coming soon, with personal terms already agreed.
This is a tricky situation for United. In years gone by, the Reds would have dropped interest in Hojlund quickly and moved back onto Kane. However, with Erik ten Hag in charge, the club seem to have better understanding on how to operate. They’re conducting their business far more smartly.
United will not be suckered back into a potentially unobtainable target, who’d now cost a huge sum of money despite that winding down contract.
Hojlund is someone who should be regarded as a gamble, though the longevity he’d be able to offer should far outweigh the guaranteed goals that Kane would bring to the table.
In a perfect world, United would move for both Hojlund and Kane. However, with the Glazers’ ownership of the club remaining up in the air, coupled with FFP stipulations, that just isn’t going to happen.
