West Ham are anxiously waiting on news from Joao Palhinha’s shoulder scan and were preparing a second offer for the Fulham star after their initial £45m bid was rejected
- West Ham are holding their breath as they wait for an update on Joao Palhinha
- The midfielder suffered a dislocated shoulder in last night’s loss to Brentford
- Fulham are hoping to establish the total extent of the damage later on Monday
Fulham won’t be the only ones anxiously waiting on Joao Palhinha’s shoulder scan today.
The 28-year-old dislocated his left shoulder during the first half of their 3-2 win over Brentford where he was starting at centre-back and Fulham’s medical department hope to establish the full extent of the damage later. But he has had a similar injury before.
West Ham were preparing a second offer, after their £45million bid was rejected last week, while Liverpool have rekindled their interest in light of the pending departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, who is expected to fly out to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
Palhinha would cost £60m and that’s a big investment to consider if the injury rules him out for some time.

David Moyes’ (pictured) side, West Ham, are anxiously waiting on any updates on the Portugal international as they continue their pursuits to sign him after having a bid rejected last week
West Ham have a difference of opinion on targets with some staff favouring UK-based purchases such as Palhinha, James Ward-Prowse, Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Alex Scott while others are leaning towards Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Axel Disasi, Edson Alvarez of Ajax and Denis Zakaria at Juventus.
The Irons are looking to replace Declan Rice after his £105m move to Arsenal, and Palhinha could be a great option for them.
The Portuguese holding midfielder joined the London club last summer for £17.2m and has started in 35 of Fulham’s Premier League games, returning three goals for Marco Silva’s side.
One deal that is progressing is that of Carlos Borges from Manchester City.
West Ham are also eyeing up another Portuguese player, Carlos Borges (pictured), who could join fom Manchester City in a deal that could fetch them around £14milion
Transfer Confidential alerted readers to West Ham tracking Borges in April and the 19-year-old is closing on a £14m deal with City maintaining a buy-back clause.
He was a key part of City’s U21 side who clinched the Premier League 2 last season, returning 24 goals in 21 appearances.
He has also been capped by several of Portugal’s youth teams but is yet to make his senior debut for the Manchester club.
