Man United are not interested in making a move to sign either Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane this summer.
Manchester United Football Club will likely dip their toes into the striker market this summer, as Erik ten Hag looks to find his new number nine for the upcoming term.
Harry Kane was the dream target. Though the Englishman comes with an insane price tag. That situation may have changed over the last 24 hours, leading many to believe that United could reignite their interest.
The BBC’s Simon Stone has had his say on the situation. He’s a reliable source when it comes to United news. The journalist states that United are not interested in a move for Kane this summer, nor Kylian Mbappe. Deals for the two top-class forwards have been ruled out.
Neither player is a reds ‘target’ this summer, while the club ‘do not expect’ that position to change.
I genuinely thought United had a decent chance at signing Kane this summer, though a deal for Mbappe never looked like a real possibility.
Both players are just too expensive in the current climate. Mbappe’s going to end up costing £200m+, while Kane’s contract situation means that anything over the £70m mark would feel like an overpay.
For the time being, all eyes seem to be firmly fixated on Rasmus Hojlund. Whether or not the young man is the right answer to the question remains to be seen.
However, the boss hasn’t let us down so far with his signings, so who are we to judge? The young striker from Atalanta looks like he has all the tools, though he’s still only 20 and he’d definitely need time to settle into his new surroundings.
