Man United have named a youthful 15-man squad for the game vs Wrexham in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Manchester United play two games in less than 24 hours as they continue their work for pre-season. The Old Trafford side have won three from three, though that record may well be in doubt here.
The Red Devils take on recently-promoted Wrexham in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with Erik ten Hag’s intention always to name a young looking squad for this one.
The gaffer didn’t want to disrupt the flow of the senior players, while overworking his main man could have become an issue. The club have now confirmed a 15-man travelling party for the Wrexham game.
It’s definitely filled with younger players, though I am excited to see them in action. The likes of Charlie McNeill, Isak Hansen-Aaroen and Willy Kambwala are in among the group, who’ll be looking to get a victory against a very solid League Two side.
Check out the squad in full here:
Sonny Aljofree
Toby Collyer
Jonny Evans
Will Fish
Isak Hansen-Aaroen
Elyh Harrison
Joe Hugill
Marc Jurado
Willy Kambwala
Charlie McNeill
Dermot Mee
Mateo Mejia
Maxi Oyedele
Logan Pye
Shola Shoretire
Jonny Evans provides some seniority and experience and perhaps this is exactly why he was signed on a short-term contract. The Northern Irishman can be the wise old head to help these young players in a game against top professionals.
That said, this will be a super test for this squad. Some of these guys have potential to go right to the top and I’m seriously excited to see how they get on. Maxi Oyedele is one to keep an eye on, while we all know about McNeill’s goalscoring ability. Hugill impressed during his first couple of pre-season games so I’d expect to see him start again here.
Fingers crossed we can get the win.
