Goals from James McAtee and Aymeric Laporte handed Manchester City a second successive pre-season win, with a late strike seeing off late comeback from German giants Bayern Munich in a 2-1 victory.
McAtee converted from just a yard or so out after some brilliant work from Rico Lewis down the right, with Julian Alvarez’s close-range shot deflected into the youngster’s path.
Bayern left it late, but looked to have drawn themselves level again on the 83rd minute through substitute Mathys Tel, who was on hand after Ederson‘s brilliant point blank save off Leon Goretzka.
That parity lasted just four minutes, though, with Laporte firing home emphatically from inside the box after some good work from Foden inside the area to restore the lead.
Kyle Walker led the line for City amid heavy transfer interest from Bayern Munich, and City were the better side in the opening exchanges despite the potent threat posed by the German side.

Bayern threatened a number of times on the counter, with the frightening pace of attacking trio Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman proving dangerous.
Sane in particular came closest for the German champions in the opening 45 minutes, with a brilliant knuckle-ball free-kick clattering into the crossbar, with Ederson stranded on his line and fortunate the effort was just off target.
The Brazilian stopper was called into action on a number of occasions toward the end of the first half, with Coman and Jamal Musiala coming close to an equaliser, but the Treble-winners held onto their lead by the interval.
The German champions then made 11 changes at the break, with eight from City, as the game lost the rhythm and tempo it had managed to sustain in an entertaining first half.
Frans Kratzig impressed for Thomas Tuchel’s side off the bench, showing great energy to get up and down the left-hand side and help out at the back with the threat of Erling Haaland after the break, with Oscar Bobb marking out his credentials for Pep Guardiola’s Treble-winners.
Bayern’s equaliser came against the run of play, after Paul Wanner won a free-kick, from which Kratzig was freed down the left to put the ball in the box from the byline. Goretzka’s effort was kept out by Ederson, young French striker Tel on hand to convert the equaliser.
With little happening in the second half before the equaliser, City were sparked back into life, and were quickly up the other end to win a corner. The ball was played short to the edge of the box, with Phil Foden feinting right before darting toward the byline to his left to receive the ball in behind, striking at Sven Ulreich in goal.
Ulreich kept it out, but for the third time in the game, an attacker profited from a loose save, and Laporte hammered the ball into the net to re-establish the lead, one which City ultimately held onto.
