A pair of Man United regulars were left out against Borussia Dortmund last night as a precaution.
Manchester United are now back in the United Kingdom following their small tour of the United States. Erik ten Hag’s men have lost three and won two of their five matches so far. Though at this stage, it’s about building up the fitness levels.
Ahead of the Borussia Dortmund game last night, a United duo were not involved, leaving us to scratch our heads as to why. However, the Manchester Evening News have confirmed that they were missing as a precaution, seemingly, they’re dealing with minor injuries.
Both Raphael Varane and Alejandro Garnacho were the ones who were purposely left out, as they seemingly do not want to make their small problems any worse, ahead of the Wolves game, which takes place in two weeks today. Amad’s injury does sound a little more serious, though.
We’ve always known about Varane’s scattered injury record ever since he was signed. There’s always going to be occasions where he’s missing for games here and there, due to the fact his body just cannot hold up anymore. It’s why the Reds would do well to bring in another centre-half.
Garnacho’s case is different. You’d imagine that he was complaining about some sort fo injury in the aftermath of the Real Madrid game. Hence, United took the decision to leave him out, rather than aggravating the injury and making it worse.
Obviously, we’d prefer it if these guys were available, though the problems do not sound serious which is good news. There’s now almost a week before United’s next friendly, so time is certainly on their side.
Do you think Man United will be able to count upon Varane this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
