Rasmus Hojlund is set to undergo his Man United medical today, with the player on his way to England.
Erik ten Hag has had a pretty good summer transfer window so far. The gaffer has identified two main targets in Andre Onana and Mason Mount. The club have delivered them both to him.
Next up on the agenda was a top-class forward. This was always going to be the most expensive of the three deals, though finding the right player was never going to be easy. Harry Kane was the initial dream signing, though that deal died pretty quickly.
Attention then turned to Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane, coming off the back of an impressive season for Atalanta, has been attracting interest due to his sheer talent and natural ability.
Now, a deal to bring in the 20-year-old seems close. Fabrizio Romano has been on top of this story from day one and he provided us with another big update this morning.
According to Romano, the player is ‘now travelling’ to England to ‘undergo’ the ‘main part’ of his medical tests today.
As has been previously mentioned, Hojlund will sign a deal until 2028 with the option for a further year. Documents between clubs have already been exchanged.
United have been crying out for a new number nine ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left. Ten Hag managed to cope without a top class player in that position last season, though this time around, you get the feeling we’re going to need those goals if the progression forward is to continue.
Hojlund is supremely talented, though he’s still super raw in footballing terms. We have to be patient with the young forward. There are going to be good and bad days for him.
Hopefully, we see him holding a United shirt aloft this week, so he can then focus solely on his football.
