Sofyan Amrabat is seemingly ready to make the move to Man United this summer.
Manchester United are seemingly closing in on a deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane, 20, is going to lead the line for the Red Devils next season. Talk about pressure…
Aside from bringing in a new number nine, another midfielder seems to be atop the list of priorities. The likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van De Beek are all up for sale, meaning there could be space in the squad for another central player.
Sofyan Amrabat‘s name has cropped up more than most. The man from Morocco had a stunning World Cup. He was equally impressive for Fiorentina over the course of the season.
The midfielder has been consistently linked with an Old Trafford switch over the last few weeks. Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on that situation.
According to the report, Amrabat has ‘no doubts’ about a Reds switch. The 26-year-old has already ‘said yes’ to a United transfer, having wanted the move since talks first began in June.
To add further fuel to the fire, it’s claimed United ‘will send’ a bid when Fred or Donny van de Beek leave – presumably for both financial reasons and the space in the squad.
The verdict
An upgrade in midfield is absolutely necessary. We’ve seen how big the drop-off is when the senior players are not involved. United cannot compete with Fred or Van de Beek in the team. That’s just the brutal truth.
Amrabat has worked with Ten Hag before, way back when during their FC Utrecht days. We’ve seen that the Dutchman has preferred to surround himself with familiarity. The man from Morocco would slot seamlessly into this system, I’ve no doubt about that.
It may take some time to get this one over the line, but I feel confident that United will sign Amrabat.
