Man United are looking set to loan out Hannibal this season, with a Premier League move as their preferred option.
Manchester United Football Club are moving in a positive direction under Erik ten Hag, though there’s still much work ahead for the Old Trafford side.
The tour squad was jam-packed with impressive youth players. Most of whom will not feature for the senior side on a regular basis, meaning they’ll have to find their minutes elsewhere.
Loan moves are often the ideal scenario, giving players the chance to play at a high level, learning more than they’d learn while training at United without really playing meaningful minutes.
Hannibal is a player who firmly falls into this no mans land category. Talented, sure, but unable to usurp the likes of Bruno Fernandes from the side with regularity. Hence, a loan move for the Tunisia international feels likely.
Journalist Mahmoud Missaoui provided an update on that front yesterday evening. It seems like United are mulling over loan offers for the 20-year-old, of which there are plenty.
AS Monaco enquired, though United management did not follow up. Feyenoord, Rotterdam and Rennes have also shown a keenness on signing Hannibal. Wolves and Leicester are following the player’s situation. However, it’s Luton Town deemed the ‘nearest destination’.
United, understandably want to keep Hannibal as close as possible. A move to recently promoted Luton Town will be a steep learning curve for the young man, though one that could be hugely beneficial.
He’d be given the opportunity to play games with regularity, while showcasing his individual abilities in a side that is likely to be relegated. This absolutely feels like the next logical step for Hannibal’s overall development as a footballer, while in the long run, this would only increase his hunger at making it at the highest level.
