Our predicted MUFC XI for the pre-season game vs Lens is now in.
Manchester United Football Club have a couple of pre-season games left. Both take place this weekend. First up, Lens visit the Theatre of Dreams, in front of a packed out Old Trafford for this friendly match.
With a game to follow on Sunday, the squad will be split up. I’d expect the senior side to take part in this one, with a younger team likely off to the Aviva Stadium to play Athletic Club.
We’re now getting down to crunch time, so I’d expect Erik ten Hag to name his strongest possible side here. This is when the line-up will start to take real shape.
We’ve chosen to leave out both Raphael Varane and Alejandro Garnacho, who were nursing knocks and missed the Borussia Dortmund game. The severity of their issues are not yet known.
Anyway, let’s get right into the all-important team news and line-up for this one.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Lens in full here:
Andre Onana has greatly impressed since joining the club from Inter in a big-money deal. I’m excited to see him play again.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has quietly taken charge of the right-back position and he will start. Over on the left, Luke Shaw is given the nod. Lisandro Martinez will start alongside Harry Maguire. Purely because the gaffer likes one right and one left-footer back there.
Casemiro needs the minutes in the tank so another hour here could do him the world of good. Mason Mount is still learning this new system so again, he should be given the chance to start. Bruno Fernandes always plays when fit. Friendly or not.
Rasmus Hojlund will not be signed in time, so it means Jadon Sancho will play in that false nine spot again. Antony starts in the right-wing position, with Marcus Rashford over on the left-hand side.
