Man United are weighing up the possibility of making a move to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.
Manchester United are still looking to address the gaping holes within the squad this summer. There are a few problem areas that still need to be worked on, though it’s easier said than done.
The Red Devils have done well during this window and there’s a feeling that one or two more signings could really push United on to that next level. One midfielder has been signed in Mason Mount, though the club seemingly want to bring in a second central player.
Sofyan Amrabat’s name has been heavily linked with filling that spot, though he’s not the only candidate for Erik ten Hag.
This morning, Aurelien Tchouameni has been mentioned in the same breath as United. The story comes from Fichajes in Spain.
According to the report, Bayern Munich have made an offer to sign the Frenchman, though the Red Devils are also keen. It’s stated United are ‘considering’ a move to sign the 23-year-old midfielder.
Fichajes believe United are considering making an ‘economic proposal’ similar to what Real Madrid paid to sign the Frenchman last summer. That move was worth £70m (€80m).
Again, it’s reiterated United want to sign a midfielder, with Ten Hag telling the club to ‘address the hiring’.
The verdict
Tchouameni would be an unbelievable piece of business. Though bringing him in is not going to be easy, or cheap.
I’d be surprised if Real Madrid would be prepared to let him leave. Then, you’ve got the small matter of coming up with the cash to make a deal happen. Honestly, I think United will come up about £20m short, even after player sales.
