Rasmus Hojlund is dealing with a minor problem which could lead to a delayed debut for the Dane.
Rasmus Hojlund is here. The Dane was announced as Manchester United’s newest signing before the RC Lens game earlier today.
No doubt he’s already feeling the pressure that playing for a big club brings, but Erik ten Hag is seemingly confident in his ability, paying big money to bring in the 20-year-old.
Sadly, United play their final two pre-season friendlies this weekend, meaning there’s absolutely no chance we’ll be seeing Hojlund in action before the serious stuff starts next week.
Well, that debut is set to be delayed even further. According to the reliable Laurie Whitwell, Hojlund is dealing with a ‘small injury’ that he picked up while with Atalanta. So he is not yet fit to play.
It may take a ‘few weeks’ before Hojlund is match fit and ready to make his debut, meaning we fans will have to remain patient.
Sadly, this seems to be the story of United strikers at the moment. Anthony Martial is the same, which is why Hojlund was signed. No doubt when the both of them are fit, they’ll be locked in a real duel for the lion’s share of the first-team minutes.
I’d like to think that this small injury is the exception rather than the rule. We’re going to need Hojlund to stay as fit as possible, just so United have a goal-scoring striker available at all times. Again, that’s something the Reds didn’t have for periods last term.
For now, let’s allow Hojlund to settle in at his own pace. When he’s ready, I’m sure Ten Hag will unleash his ability.
