Our confirmed MUFC XI for the pre-season game vs Athletic Club is now in.
Manchester United’s final pre-season game of the summer is here. The Red Devils are over in Ireland to take on Athletic Club, before the serious stuff starts next week.
After playing just yesterday, we were always going to see a much-changed team for this one. Erik ten Hag was never going to risk playing his regular starters for two games less than 24 hours apart. That said, this is still a strong starting side.
Once again, it’s about building up the fitness levels, though it’s never bad to impress the boss against a quality side like Athletic Club. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing how Dan Gore gets on, while Facundo Pellistri has always looked sharp when given the opportunity.
Anyway, let’s give you the full rundown of the starting line-up.
Check out the confirmed MUFC XI in full here:
Tom Heaton starts in between the sticks, while also captaining the side. This is no doubt a proud moment for the Englishman.
At right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka gets the nod. ‘The Spider’ will be looking to usurp Diogo Dalot from the starting line-up. At left-back, Alvaro Fernandez will be hoping to prove his worth. Victor Lindelof partners Harry Maguire at the heart of the back four.
Dan Gore is starting in midfield, with the Englishman looking to showcase his talents yet again. Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen bring bags of experience to the middle of the park.
A front three of Omari Forson, Facundo Pellistri and Jadon Sancho has bags of potential. It’s now up to those lads to prove that they have what it takes to force their way into the gaffer’s plans on a regular basis.
