Bayern Munich defender, Benjamin Pavard, would consider making a Man United transfer this summer.
Manchester United’s squad is now starting to take shape. It has taken two summer transfer windows for Erik ten Hag to get some sort of semblance for his vision – though there’s still plenty of work ahead.
The Red Devils are still looking to move on some players. Harry Maguire appears to be the next name who’ll be leaving through the exit door soon.
As a result, the hunt for a replacement is now well underway. The Old Trafford side were linked with a move to bring in Benjamin Pavard yesterday.
Now, a Pavard to United transfer is back in the headlines. TalkSPORT provide a viewpoint from the player’s side, with the 27-year-old said to be ‘open’ to a Reds transfer this summer.
It’s also claimed that Pavard is among Ten Hag’s ‘top targets’ to fill the void, along with Jean-Clair Todibo.
Pavard’s struggles have been evident of late. The Frenchman has been dealing with injuries, while also finding playing time hard to come by. That in itself is reason enough for him to want to move to a new club during this window.
The verdict
United need someone who can slot in when Raphael Varane is either injured or needs a rest. Pavard has the ample skill to play at the desired level – though I’m not sure he’d settle for a bench role.
His whole reason for wanting to leave Bavaria is to play week-in-week-out. When everyone is fit at United, I do not believe he’ll be satisfied with the amount of minutes that’ll be on offer.
Will this deal happen? It’s too soon to say.
