Rasmus Hojlund has chosen his Man United shirt number.
Manchester United made a big-money move to bring Rasmus Hojlund to the club a week ago now, with the Dane unveiled on the Old Trafford turf last Saturday.
The young striker held a Reds shirt aloft for some photos at that time, though his jersey was numberless. That had us all wondering why?
Well, Fabrizio Romano has shed some light on that situation. It’s down to the fact that Fred still remains at the club. Now that a move away for the Brazilian is close, we now know more about Hojlund’s shirt number. Do you see where I’m going with this…?
According to Romano, Hojlund’s ‘decision (is) made’ and he’ll take the number 17 shirt at the Theatre of Dreams. This should come as no real surprise, with the Dane wearing the number 17 during his time with Serie A club Atalanta.
Obviously, Fred has been the proud wearer of the number 17 for the last five years. It has always been worn by the likes of Daley Blind and Nani.
Now, it’s Hojlund’s turn. The young striker is currently out injured, though that problem is not thought to keep him out of action for too long.
No doubt he’s chomping at the bit to get started and get out on the field with his new teammates. Being a boyhood United fan will give him that extra bit of motivation to succeed here, particularly as he’s watched City winning multiple trophies as he’s growing up.
I honestly cannot wait to see Hojlund in action. I genuinely do believe that he’ll be a massive success, provided we supporters give him all the time he needs to settle in initially.
