Man United target, Benjamin Pavard, is ready to transfer away from Bayern Munich, though the deal is being held up.
Manchester United thought they were set to move on from Harry Maguire, though the Englishman seemingly have other ideas. Fair enough, it’s up to him, with Erik ten Hag openly speaking about the fact in his most recent press conference.
Sadly, the 30-year-old’s decision to stay is having a knock-on effect on the Red Devils’ other transfer business. United are in a situation where they simply have to sell before they can buy.
One man the club have been heavily linked with is Benjamin Pavard. Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on that front, claiming that the United target is ‘prepared to leave’ his current club ‘now’.
The problem for United is now other interested parties. Inter have Pavard on the top of their list, while he could also become a target for Arsenal, who are looking to replace Jurrien Timber after his injury.
Pavard’s move to Old Trafford is said to be stalling due to the aforementioned Maguire situation.
If I had to choose, I reckon I’d pick Pavard every single time. Sadly, it just doesn’t work like that due to the huge amounts of money that’s involved in these big transfers.
If Maguire chooses to stay then there’s nothing the club can do as they’ve given him the contract. The problem? There’s two years left on this deal, so the club could find themselves in the exact same position next summer too.
I honestly thought a move to West Ham would be in the best interests of everyone. Clearly, the Englishman has other ideas. It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time he’s offered in 2023/24…
