Sofyan Amrabat is patiently waiting for Man United to make their move to sign him.
It’s common knowledge that next up on Erik ten Hag’s transfer list is a new central midfielder. Sadly, nothing has come to fruition in that regard so far.
Manchester United are still in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy. I do not see that changing before the end of the transfer window.
Sofyan Amrabat has been viewed as a top target for United’s Dutch manager, though thus far, nothing concrete has happened on that front.
Sport Witness have done a stellar job at relaying the latest information from the Italian perspective today. The most interesting claim came from Corriere dello Sport. Apparently, the player is ‘waiting for’ a Man United offer to come in. On top of that, ‘everyone expects’ a bid to happen.
It’s all well and good bracing yourself for a bid, while United have seemingly been giving off all the right signals to the player himself. However, you have to worry about the fact that no clubs seem interesting in buying fringe players who are currently stuck at Old Trafford.
Unless that happens, I really struggle to see United firming up their Amrabat interest with an official bid.
More than anything, I feel sorry for Amrabat. he’s made his feelings known that he’d love a move to United, whereas the club are now in a tough situation as they simply cannot afford him.
To me, this stems from Harry Maguire, who was unwilling to leave. That’s entirely up to him, but this is now having a knock-on effect on the rest of the squad. Unless someone like Donny van de Beek or Scott McTominay leave, I genuinely don’t see Amrabat joining.
