Man United are weighing up the possibility of moving to sign Ryan Gravenberch.
Manchester United Football Club could do with another midfielder. That much has become obvious over the last couple of matches. Erik ten Hag’s side look to be struggling mightily in that area of the field.
Several names have been linked with the void, including the likes of Sofyan Amrabat. More recently, Ryan Gravenberch’s name has come to the fore.
The latest on that front comes from talkSPORT. They state that United are ‘considering a move’ to sign the young midfielder from Bayern Munich.
Apparently, the Dutch player wants to leave his current club, in search of regular first-team football elsewhere. He’s also attracting interest from Liverpool.
Gravenberch is yet another player who knows Ten Hag well from time together at previous clubs. It has been a common theme over the last couple of transfer windows, so this move does seem to have some credibility to it.
I’m a big fan of the way an in-form Gravenberch plays the game. I wanted him to join United when he took the decision to head to Bavaria. Perhaps now, he’s looking for that link up with his former manager in order to revive his stalling career.
The 21-year-old has bags of ability, has a massive engine and will cover every blade of grass for the cause. There’s no doubt he’d be a fine asset for the Red Devils if they could somehow pull off the move.
The verdict
Sadly, the same problem remains. United do not have a big budget available right now. That will not change overnight – unless some mega-money player sales are sanctioned.
I’m genuinely not sure United have any assets that other clubs want, so I do not see this move happening before the end of the window. That spells bad news for Ten Hag on the field and I fear it could be a long season ahead.
