Raphael Varane is feeling good in Manchester. He will not leave the club this summer, despite the rumours.
Manchester United’s summer transfer window has been incredibly hit and miss. The Red Devils have made some good signings, though you always feel like further additions need to be made.
With funds now needed to be generated to bring in further signings, you’re starting to see some unexpected names linked with potential moves away. Most recently, Raphael Varane.
The Frenchman has been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, some sections of the media have claimed.
However, reliable journalist, Julien Laurens, has quashed those rumours and eased the nerves of United supporters.
Laurens has claimed that the United star is ‘very happy’ at the club and he will not be leaving despite the reports. To this point, the French journalist believes no contact has even happened, though if it did, Rapha would turn it down.
This has been handled perfectly by Rapha. As soon as the rumours started to pick up momentum, the World Cup winner has come out and denied them. This is exactly how you do it.
Losing Varane at this point would have been nothing but a disaster. He’s integral to the way United play the game. His experience, knowledge, positional sense and passing skill is so important.
Yes, he picks up some injuries, but over the course of a long season, the positives far outweigh the negatives.
I’m glad that he’ll be here for at least another season as we need his winning mentality now, more than ever. I don’t doubt that if/when United turn things around, he’ll be a key factor behind that.
