Man United could make a move to sign Ivan Toney in January.
Manchester United Football Club signed Rasmus Hojlund earlier in the window, though to this stage, we’re yet to see the Dane play due to injury.
The pressure on the 20-year-old’s shoulders is only growing with each passing match. Sadly, it’s a lot of hype to live up to, particularly when you’re still learning your trade.
Apparently, Ten Hag is also keen on bringing in another striker; Ivan Toney.
It’s Football Transfers with the story. They state that United ‘are looking to bring in’ the 27-year-old striker during the January transfer window, after having conversations with the player before they flew out for their pre-season tour of the US.
Sources have informed Football Transfers that Ten Hag is still after another number nine after the Hojlund signing, with the United gaffer prepared to wait until January, when Toney’s ban is lifted.
Apparently, united need to move players on before they sign anyone else this window, the Reds are prepared to bide their time to bring in Toney.
The player is ‘open’ to a United transfer, while in that time, Hojlund will have time to settle to life in Manchester.
Ten Hag has traditionally used a physical striker to fit his system. Toney obviously fits that mould perfectly.
Toney has been outstanding for Brentford upon their Premier League promotion, scoring goals for fun and leading the line well. Football Transfers believe that as a result, they’ll be ‘healthy competition’ for his signature from the Premier League and beyond.
This would be a smart signing, if United could pull it off. Brentford will demand an arm and a leg to let their key man leave, mind.
