Man United will be without Mason Mount for their next couple of matches, with the Englishman suffering an injury.
Manchester United haven’t been at their best in their opening couple of fixtures. Erik ten Hag will know this more than anyone. I’d argue midfield has been the biggest issue.
Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro haven’t quite found that balance as of yet. They’re all super players. I’d expect them to work things out sooner rather than later.
Well, that plan will be shelved until at least after the international break. The club have confirmed an injury to Mason Mount.
The Englishman has picked up a ‘small complaint’ in the game against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. As a result, he’s out until after the international break, meaning he’ll miss the next two against Forest and Arsenal.
The club haven’t gone into great depth in regard to the problem, though no doubt we’ll hear more from Ten Hag during his press conference ahead of the game this coming Saturday.
Obviously, it’s less than ideal as this delays the learning period for Mount with his new teammates. It also affects his match fitness.
I guess the good news is that the problem isn’t described as a serious one, meaning he will not be sidelined for long. The Englishman will likely not link up with his Three Lions teammates as a result, affording him more time to get comfortable in his new surroundings in Manchester.
From Mount’s perspective, the worst thing that can happen now is Christian Eriksen or Scott McTominay stepping in and doing a great job. He could find it tough to break back into the team at that point – and it’ll be through no fault of his own as I thought he was one of our better outfield performers against Spurs.
Get well soon, Mason!
