Man United are looking set to sign Altay Bayindir from Fenerbache, with the player set to travel to Manchester soon.
Manchester United have added Andre Onana to the playing squad as the new number one goalkeeper, though the club are still looking to switch things up at the back-up position.
Dean Henderson isn’t happy at playing second fiddle. Hence, a move away for the Englishman remains a real possibility. The club have been linked with several options to replace Hendo, including Altay Bayindir.
The latest report in the possible transfer comes from Haber Turk, with the translation via Sport Witness. They state that a Bayindir move to United is edging closer.
Apparently, the deal is worth a little under £6m, as Bayindir made a trip to Greece yesterday to undergo some medical tests. Those tests went well.
The article adds that the 25-year-old is set to travel to England ‘shortly’, in order to complete a transfer to United. Not only does this mean that Bayindir will be signed. It also leads us to believe that Henderson is probably set to be sold by the Old Trafford club.
The job of a back-up keeper is largely down to stylistic fit. They need someone to slot in, while knowing the system well enough to do a decent job over a short period of time.
Ten Hag is obviously confident in Bayindir fulfilling that role, otherwise money would not have been sanctioned for his signature.
Bayindir has plenty of experience over in the Turkish league and I fully believe he thinks that he can usurp Onana from the starting line-up. That mentality will no doubt serve him well when this transfer becomes official.
