Karou Mitoma has been labelled the ideal signing for Man United, despite the daunting stage.
Manchester United’s start to the season has been pretty shocking. Let’s be honest. Erik ten Hag wouldn’t have envisaged it kicking off like this, though it’s his job to fix.
The Dutchman has made three signings so far. All of whom will have a positive impact in the long run. I’ve no doubt about that. However, further additions could be needed – assuming the money is there.
We have to be honest with ourselves. The lack of production from out wide is alarming. This is usually United’s bread and butter. They’ve always had electric wingers.
BBC pundit Garth Crooks has given his say on the situation, laying into both Jadon Sancho and Antony for their performances recently. Crooks also pointed to Kaoru Mitoma, the 26-year-old Premier League star, as the ideal Man United player.
Mitoma was once again included in the latest BBC Team of the Week after another simply stunning display over the weekend. While Crooks accepts it’s a ‘daunting stage’ at Old Trafford, he’s a United player if ever I (he) saw one’.
Check out what Garth Crooks had to say in full here:
“Manchester United have Jadon Sancho and Antony in their ranks and I haven’t seen anything like the quality or ability from either of those two players that I have seen from this lad. How do United get it so wrong?” Crooks said while coming up with his latest BBC Team of the Week, including Mitoma.
“I accept that Old Trafford is a daunting stage and the stakes are much higher there, but Mitoma is a United player if ever I saw one.”
I mean, it’s pretty hard to disagree. You watch his goal from Saturday and it’s United all over. Direct running. Skill. Pace. Precision. I’d also add that he’d be the perfect player for the way Ten Hag likes to play the game.
The problem? Money. United feel like they’re in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy. Mitoma would not be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Brighton are under no pressure to sell. They’d probably want something close to what they received from Chelsea for Moises Caicedo. That deal eventually cost over £100m…
It’s much like the media in regard to the Harry Kane negotiations. They were urging United to go and get this deal done, but if the money is not available, it’s physically impossible.
