Man United have eyes on NK Kustosija striker, Dino Klapija.
Manchester United find themselves in a weird situation. Erik ten Hag is undertaking good work at Old Trafford, though it has been a tough start to the season. Off-field issues regarding a certain player, and club ownership, hasn’t helped.
Watching the first two games, you cannot help but think further signings are needed. I’d argue additions are required in every outfield position. Ironically, it looks as though a goalkeeper will be the next addition.
Rasmus Hojlund has been brought in to lead the line. He cost in excess of £70m. Outside of that, though, United need more sources of goals.
With money tight, the Reds may have to search outside of the typical areas and age groups. Enter, Dino Klapija.
He’s a name I’d never heard of before, though the Daily Mail shed some light on the young forward. According to their sources, United are ‘taking a keen interest’ in signing the young striker.
The 16-year-old is also attracting interest from Chelsea, while currently playing his trade for NK Kustosija. The young man from Croatia is already training with their first team, with U17 performances catching the eye of some of Europe’s top sides.
Red Bull Leipzig, Barcelona, AC Milan and Juventus have all expressed an interest, with some clubs indicating they’d be willing to offer in excess of £5m to sign Klapija.
RB Leipzig are regarded as the favourites, though United are trying to bolster their options up front. They want talents who can push for a first-team place within two years and Klapija is viewed as someone who is capable of doing that.
While it’s disappointing that Klapija is someone who won’t come in and immediately make an impact, you can see the understanding and logic behind the decision.
