Man United could hand Rasmus Hojlund his Reds debut this weekend.
Manchester United needed a striker this summer. In the end, they opted for Rasmus Hojlund.
The Atalanta man arrives at his boyhood club with promise aplenty. The talent is there for all to see. However, he’s yet to make his Red Devils bow due to injury.
Age just 20, the pressure is already mounting on Hojlund through no fault of his own. The team are struggling for goals in his absence. It has been a pretty tough watch at times.
Well, The Sun have provided some good news on that front. According to their latest, United are ‘hopeful’ that the 20-year-old will be fit enough for a spot on the bench this weekend vs Nottingham Forest.
The Reds played a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday, though Hojlund was not involved in that game. Perhaps Erik ten Hag is planning to have the Dane involved in some capacity this weekend.
In an ideal world, United will be in a winning position, preferably by a couple of goals, allowing Hojlund to come on and make his debut with the freedom to just go out there and get a feel for what it’s like to play for the biggest club in the country.
More than anything, I just hope United are approaching this one cautiously. The last thing they need is to bring Hojlund in too early, risking further injury issues. Even if it means waiting until after the international break.
Either way, Hojlund already has a massive job on his hands. He’s expected to score goals from minute one due to the nature of the position and the club he is at. I hope he can handle that pressure.
