Man United are still trying to sell Donny van de Beek before the global transfer deadline is shut…
Manchester United’s transfer window was certainly mixed. Good signings were made, though in an ideal world, more players would have been sold.
Sadly, the Red Devils still have way too much dead wood on their books. Overpaying in terms of player wages is now starting to catch up with the Old Trafford side.
One man who firmly falls into that bracket is Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman has been linked with a move away for what feels like the whole summer, though nothing came to fruition.
Now, we’ve been offered a glimmer of hope on that front. It comes from Football Insider, who state that United ‘would like’ to sell the 26-year-old before the global transfer windows shut.
It is believed there will be ‘options’ for Van de Beek in Turkey, whose window remains open until September 15th (this coming Friday).
Van de Beek did have options in Europe, with a potential move to Lorient falling through, while interest from Real Sociedad failed to materialise.
Van de Beek now finds his list of possible destinations more limited, though in our opinion, a move away is the best option for all involved.
The Dutchman is an excellent player. He just needs to start playing regularly again, which will allow him to rediscover his best form.
Confidence is a massive thing at the highest level and right now, Van de Beek has absolutely none of it. Perhaps a move to a top Turkish side would allow the Dutchman to build his morale back up, possibly win a trophy or two, before moving back to an elite European team in a couple of years.
