Man United have been given some welcome news on the injury front, with a key duo back in training.
Manchester United’s squad has been decimated by injuries. We’re sick of talking about it quite frankly, but at this point, it feels like more than just bad luck…
Erik ten Hag’s squad has been dropping like flies since pre-season, with the gaffer having to work without some key players for prolonged periods of time. It doesn’t help the already-tense situation at the Theatre of Dreams.
Well, there has been some welcome relief on that front, with United receiving a double injury boost. A key duo were back in first-team training after their absences, the club has confirmed.
The Reds took part in an open training session yesterday. While the recently-injured Aaron Wan-Bissaka was not spotted, both Raphael Varane and Mason Mount were spotted in that group session, which is massive news for Ten Hag.
It has since been confirmed that neither player has travelled to Bavaria to take on Bayern Munich, though it is positive going forward that United’s squad is set to be bolstered somewhat significantly.
We’ve only seen Mount feature in a couple of games, though he was the bright spark against Spurs and I really do believe he’s going to have a huge part to play upon his return. The Englishman’s mobility, skill and energy is going to be key.
As for Varane, we’ve seen how poorly United play without him. The Frenchman seems to be the glue in that back four. Cast your mind back to last season when Lisandro Martinez was injured but Rapha was still out there alongside Victor Lindelof. The pair played some brilliant football together.
The sooner the Frenchman is back, the better it’ll be for the whole club. Hopefully, he has an outside chance at featuring against Burnley this coming Saturday.
