Our predicted MUFC XI vs Bayern Munich is now in, with the Red Devils kicking off their Champions League campaign.
Well, here we go again. The Champions League is here after a season out of the competition, with Manchester United looking to hit the ground running this evening.
In terms of matches, it couldn’t get much tougher than Bayern Munich away to start things off. The Bavarian giants have history with the Red Devils and with Harry Kane leading the line these days, this is shaping up to be a special encounter.
Erik ten Hag’s injury-hit squad will become a factor, as only five defenders are headed to Germany. For context, four goalkeepers will also travel.
Anyway, there’s no room for excuses in this business, particularly when United’s squad is still jam-packed with top-quality players. After much deliberation, we’ve drawn up our predicted team for this one.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Bayern Munich in full here:
Andre Onana will start between the sticks here, with the man from Cameroon set to be heavily tested in terms of both his shot-stopping abilities and ball-playing quality.
The back four picks itself. Diogo Dalot is the only fit right-back at the club, while Sergio Reguilon is the only fit left-back. Lisandro Martinez starts at the heart of the back four alongside Victor Lindelof in the wake of Harry Maguire’s absence.
Casemiro has looked a little isolated in midfield, which does explain the signing of Sofyan Amrabat. The Brazil international will start here, alongside Christian Eriksen. Bruno Fernandes starts higher up the pitch with the man from Portugal set to test himself against some of the best in the business.
Rasmus Hojlund has looked sharp whenever leading the line and I’d expect to see more glimpses of the Dane’s quality here. To his right is Facundo Pellistri who is finally set to be given an opportunity to shine, with Marcus Rashford playing off the left.
