Man United could welcome back a key pair for the Burnley game this weekend.
Manchester United lost to Bayern Munich on Wednesday; their third defeat in a row.
Pressure begins to mount on Erik ten Hag, though the injury situation isn’t helping his case. The Red Devils have been competing without pretty much a full starting XI-worth of players over the last few weeks.
Just yesterday, we covered a claim which stated that both Raphael Varane and Mason Mount had returned to training following their respective injury issues.
Now, ESPN have backed up that initial story, claiming that United are ‘hopeful’ of having the duo back from injury for the Burnley game this weekend.
The pair rejoined training, though the Bayern game came just too soon for the both of them. However, returning against Burnley is a more realistic possibility.
Whether they’re fit enough to start remains to be seen, though there is ‘hope’ that the couple could be in the squad in some capacity, assuming they come through Friday’s training session unscathed.
Mount will add some extra quality to a midfield which has been struggling greatly over the last few weeks. His energy, skill and willingness to work will be a massive boost for the manager.
Varane is another key component for this United squad. When he’s absent, the whole defence looks far shakier and less dependable.
The sooner both are back fit enough and ready to start games, the better it’ll be for all involved. Hopefully, the club can start to get some players back from injury because it really is wreaking havoc with our season.
