Bruno Fernandes is pleased to see Facundo Pellistri being granted his opportunity to play for the Man United first-team.
Manchester United Football Club are short in numbers in the right attacking area at this moment in time. Jadon Sancho’s future is unclear, while Antony remains away from the team.
Many have been talking about the potential for either Bruno Fernandes or Mason Mount to switch to that position, though it’s fair to say it’s in the best interests of neither as it’s not their natural spot on the pitch.
I was frustrated last weekend when the aforementioned Fernandes was moved out there for the Brighton game, leaving Facundo Pellistri on the bench. We later learned that the man from Uruguay had only just arrived back from international duty, hence, he wasn’t ready to start.
The winger would then get the nod away at Bayern Munich and he’d do a decent job all things considered. It was refreshing to see Pellistri out there, going at his man with either foot and always looking to make things happen.
Bruno Fernandes has now praised his United teammate, claiming that he is ‘always available’ and he ‘deserves his chance’ after working hard in training. No doubt this is a nice little morale boost for Pellistri.

“Pellistri is one of the players that deserves his chance,” Fernandes said per the Manchester Evening News. “He deserves a lot of credit for everything he has done for the team.”
“He is someone who is always available, always training hard and someone who deserves his chance. He did well today, he did the job the manager asked him to do and we are all happy for him because he really deserves to get his chances.”
You get the feeling that it’s now or never for Pellistri. The talent is obviously there, while he has made an impact off the bench every time I’ve watched him play.
It’s now about taking his game to the next level and proving he has what it takes to be more than a super sub. Starting matches is a completely different kettle of fish, though the ability is obviously there.
Pellistri will never get a better opportunity to string a run of games together and prove to the manager that he is more than up to the task. With the schedule looking a little softer over the next few weeks, it’s time to see what this young man can do.
No doubt he’ll be helped along the journey by captain Fernandes and the other senior players who are out there on the pitch at the same time as him.
