Sergio Reguilon is heading in the right direction to secure a permanent move to Man United.
Manchester United’s start to the season has offered us all many reasons to be concerned. Injuries definitely haven’t helped in that regard, though you still expect better from the Old Trafford club.
Deadline day was filled with signings as a result. Four additions were made as time wound down in the window, including Sergio Reguilon.
The Spaniard had become an outcast at Tottenham Hotspur, though Erik ten Hag was ready to take a gamble. Initially, we all assumed it’d be nothing but a stop-gap, with Reguilon just filling in until Luke Shaw is back fit.
However, we’ve seen much more from Reguilon than we’d all imagined. The left-back has looked superb on both sides of the ball, playing with real purpose and intent. He’d also put his body through illness to represent his team against Burnley on Saturday.
Now, according to AS, with the information being relayed by the Daily Express, it’s being claimed that the left-back is winning over the United hierarchy after his impressive start to life in Manchester. So-much-so that he’s on the way to securing a permanent switch to Old Trafford.
Reguilon’s attitude, both on and off the pitch, have earned the plaudits of many behind the scenes figures at the club, with the left-back looking excellent in each of his three starts so far.
The verdict
Obviously, this is only the beginning, though you have to be pleased with the way it has gone. If Reguilon can continue with this form, I don’t see any reason why United shouldn’t consider bringing him in for good.
At the end of the day, Ten Hag is looking to upgrade his squad bit by bit. Although a minuscule upgrade, it’s still a step in the right direction – particularly if he’s readily available and not injured all the time, ala Shaw…
