Two Man United players have been named in the BBC Team of the Week after the victory over Burnley on Saturday night.
After three straight defeats, Manchester United managed to return to winning ways on Saturday night against an impressive Burnley side.
Although our opponents are yet to find their first victory since their Premier League return, they play with real purpose and style under Vincent Kompany. Credit to the Belgian for that.
In the end, United’s superior quality proved to be the difference, with the Red Devils creating all the big chances in the game. It was captain Bruno Fernandes who’d prove to be the difference, with a lovely volleyed finish after a wonderful Jonny Evans long pass. As a result, the pair have been named in the latest BBC Team of the Week.
After a pretty poor run of form, it’s nice to see some United lads being praised by the pundits…
We have to talk about Evans. He was unbelievable on Saturday night. I guess the Northern Irishman is perfect for those type of matches. I’d also suggest he was extremely unlucky to see his goal ruled out for offside after a lovely header, but VAR is a shambles these days so you’ve got no idea what’s going to happen.
Defensively, he was superb throughout. Winning tackles, headers, making key interceptions and dictating orders to his teammates. It was great to see him roll back the years.
As for Bruno, we’ve said all that needs to be said. I actually don’t think he was at his best here, though the fact he still came up with the winner tells you everything you need to know about his character and qualities.
