Man United are weighing up a move to sign Bayern Munich winger, Serge Gnabry.
Manchester United Football Club have had injury issues that have seriously hampered the situation at Old Trafford to begin the season.
On top of that, the Red Devils are dealing with some major issues on the right-hand side of their attack. Jadon Sancho currently isn’t a first-team option after a very public fallout with the gaffer. Antony also remains away from the club, fighting some legal issues.
As a result, the 20-time Premier League champions and Erik ten Hag have limited options out there. Facundo Pellistri appears to be the number one option right now, though the man from Uruguay is still young and learning his trade. There’s also talk of Bruno Fernandes and/or Mason Mount.
It’s expected then, that the Old Trafford side are now being linked with a possible January move to bring in a new right-sided player. This time, it’s Serge Gnabry whose name is up in lights.
It’s Nacional with the report, with Football365 relaying the information. We can only assume it was a newspaper article rather than an online story as we cannot find it on their website.
Anyway, the report claims the Reds are exploring a potential deal to bring in Gnabry, though they’ll face competition from Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez said to be a big fan of the German’s.
However, Madrid have a ‘tough rival in the fight’ to sign Gnabry in the form of United, with the Old Trafford club ready to ‘bet heavily’ on the Bayern man.
It’s claimed that United are ‘willing to pay a lot’ to sign Gnabry in the mid-season window, which would be expected, given the fact he’s a Bayern regular who is at the peak of his powers.
The verdict
This would be an awesome signing if United could somehow pull it off. Gnabry’s skill, professionalism and genuine quality would offer the Reds a massive upgrade in a real position of need.
I just struggle to see how United can convince Bayern to sell Gnabry in January. I also wonder where they’re going to generate such funds from, given they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel in the summer window.
