Erik ten Hag still has the long-term backing of the Man United hierarchy, despite a poor run of form.
Manchester United’s results have been pretty shocking of late, let’s be honest… Erik ten Hag’s side have lost six of their opening ten, looking in no mans land in the Premier League while the Champions League dream already looks over barring some kind of miracle.
Many expected this side to compete on all fronts this season. Those ideas already look dead in the water. We’re at the start of October…
In the modern day game and fan voices being ever so powerful on social media, whispers about Ten Hag’s sacking have already come to the fore. I’ll be clear here, I believe this is way too soon to even consider this as a possibility.
Well, United’s stance on that front has now been confirmed by one reliable journalist, in the form of The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson.
He says that Ten Hag’s position at the club ‘is secure’, for the foreseeable future, and he retains the backing of the powers-that-be at the Theatre of Dreams.
The club still view Ten Hag as the right manager for the job, having ‘firm confidence’ of the key figures at Old Trafford.
Behind the scenes, injuries are cited as a possible reason for the slump in form, which does make sense given the fact that Ten Hag has been working without a full starting line-up of players at one time. Some areas are easing up on that front, though defensively, there’s still major holes in the squad.
When everyone is back fit, we’re fully expecting this United side to perform infinitely better. Hopefully, after the international break, the pressure will ease up on the gaffer.
