Man United are still unsure about the availability of Sergio Reguilon, ahead of a game vs Brentford this weekend.
Manchester United owe a lot of gratitude to Sergio Reguilon in the opening few weeks of his Reds career. The Spaniard has looked excellent during his first starts for the Old Trafford club.
However, Reguilon has missed the last three. After putting himself through illness during the Burnley game, we have not seen the Tottenham Hotspur loanee take to the field.
Reguilon has since been dealing with an injury, with United confirming they’re still sweating on the fitness of the 26-year-old, as the club is awaiting an update on his availability for the Brentford game.
In his place, Sofyan Amrabat has done a decent enough job, though it goes without saying, the sooner Reguilon is back, the better it’ll be for all involved.
He’s looked super sharp in the final third, bombing forward wherever possible. Reguilon has also been astute defensively, putting in the desired effort and showcasing that he does have what it takes to play left-back in a team with trophy aspirations.
The verdict
if you’re asking me if he’s going to play this weekend, I’d say no. We’re yet to see Reguilon back in training since suffering the problem and with the international break coming up, it does make sense to hold the Spaniard out for one more game, in order to keep him fully fit for the remainder of the season.
The last thing United and Erik ten Hag need is to bring Reguilon back too soon, only inflicting further injury problems. Unfortunately, treatment table woes is often one of the knocks levelled at Reguilon, so let’s hope this is just a one-off problem rather than an underlying issue.
