Man United and the Sweden national team are still waiting for the full details of the Victor Lindelof injury.
The story of Manchester United’s season so far has been injuries. The Old Trafford club have seen their squad decimated by treatment table woes, which has undoubtedly contributed to Erik ten Hag’s slow start to the campaign.
While the gaffer must also wear some of the responsibility, he’d be well within his rights to express genuine frustration at how busy the treatment room is right now.
The latest to succumb to a problem was Victor Lindelof. The Ice man, who would start the Brentford game at full-back, had to be subbed off in the second half over the weekend.
United are still sweating on the fitness of the defender following the injury, though they will learn the extent of the problem soon, according to Sweden manager, Janne Andersson.
Check out what Janne Andersson said in full here:
Per Aftonbladet: “I have had contact with Lindelof. Hopefully, there won’t be any major problems, but I don’t dare say that for sure. I do not have the medical team’s assessment, tonight I will find out exactly how it is.”
We have to hope that this wasn’t a serious issue. Lindelof has been pretty good since coming into the team after the Lisandro Martinez injury at the back end of last season. He looks super calm and composed and is distributing the ball out from the back very well.
The fact that Lindelof isn’t yet ruled out of Sweden’s upcoming games feels telling to me. He has some sort of chance at playing for his country over the next two weeks, which leads me to believe that the problem isn’t anything too serious.
With that said, I’d hope that Sweden chooses to rest Lindelof over this fortnight. At the end of the day, it’s United that pays his wages and he obviously needs some form of a break to allow the injury to recover, before being thrown right back into action.
