Man United have been dealt another injury blow, with Casemiro suffering a problem while away with the Brazil national team.
The story of Manchester United’s season so far has been injuries. The Old Trafford club have been dealt blow after blow in the treatment room, with Erik ten Hag effectively working with one hand tied behind his back at times.
United’s results have fluctuated as a knock-on effect. The Reds are a mid-table side right now, with top four already looking like a major ask. However, you’d assume that when players return, the performances would also be kicked up a notch.
Sadly, all that’s happening at this stage is further injury woes. This time around, it’s Casemiro. United were dealt the injury blow last night, with their key star forced off while playing for Brazil during a 1-1 draw against Venezuela.
After the game, the Brazil boss shared an update on the problem, claiming it was a blow to his ankle that has left Case struggling.
Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz said, per The Metro: ‘Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.’
Whether it’s just an impact injury or something more serious remains to be seen. You’d hope it’s the former, rather than the player suffering with long-lasting damage, but the way our season is going, you wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a serious problem.
Casemiro has blown hot and cold to start this campaign – much like many of his teammates. It’s super tough to gauge whether that’s an age thing, or purely due to the fact he has been playing way too many games over the course of the last twelve months.
In terms of replacements, Sofyan Amrabat can fill that job, while Scott McTominay is in pretty good form right now.
Do you think Casemiro is still a first-choice player at Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
