Man United still have eyes on Michael Kayode, despite recently signing a new deal at Fiorentina.
Manchester United’s injury struggles have deeply affected every position so far this season, with Erik ten Hag effectively working with one hand tied behind his back at times.
Currently, it’s the full-back slot being decimated. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are all out. We’ve also been missing loanee Sergio Reguilon at times.
It makes sense, then, to see United eyeing potential wing-back signings for the future. This time around, it’s Michael Kayode being linked with a possible Old Trafford transfer.
90min.com provides the story. They state that United are ‘continuing to monitor’ the talented full-back Michael Kayode. The Reds are not alone in the chase, with both Arsenal and Manchester City also keen.
The problem? Kayode recently signed a new deal at his current club, Fiorentina, with the young Italian enjoying himself for an excellent Serie A side this season.
The 19-year-old’s form has ‘alerted’ some of Europe’s top sides including the likes of PSG, Napoli and Barcelona, as well as the aforementioned Premier League sides.
Sadly, this is not a deal that will happen anytime soon. Kayode’s new deal runs until 2028 and the ball is firmly in Fiorentina’s court. They’re under no immediate pressure to sell unless some absolutely astronomical offers came their way.
Kayode is viewed as a ‘special player’ by some interested parties, so you can likely expect to see bids being made next summer. I’d imagine that the summer of 2025 is a more realistic option for Kayode to move clubs, though.
It’s solely dependent on whether Kayode keeps developing and growing as a footballer.
