Robin Le Normand has caught the eye of Man United, who are looking to add some extra defensive quality.
Manchester United were in the market for a new centre-back over the summer – before Harry Maguire decided to stand firm and remain a Red Devil. To his credit, the Englishman hasn’t moaned. Instead, he’s come back fighting, playing super well of late.
Going forward, though, Erik ten Hag will want to bring in another defender. Raphael Varane’s injury issues aren’t just going to disappear, while Lisandro Martinez is now starting to become a little unreliable in that regard.
TEAMtalk believe United have eyes on Robin Le Normand of Real Sociedad.
According to their claim, the 26-year-old defender is ‘attracting the attention’ of United, as well as Liverpool. Both sides are said to be looking at possible defensive reinforcements in 2024, ‘scouring the world’ for the best options.
During recent trips to Europe, United scouts are said to ‘like’ what they have seen from Le Normand.
The Sociedad man has already earned a call-up to Spain, amassing six caps to his name since. Now, he’s attracting the attention of the world’s biggest club sides. If he continues to impress, you cannot imagine it’ll be too much longer before a club decides to make their move to bring in Le Normand.
First and foremost, this strikes me as a potential summer deal rather than a winter window one. United wouldn’t be able to afford him in January anyway, even if they wanted to.
Le Normand would add some much-needed consistency to a key area of the field and I’d strongly suggest he’d be an immediate starter from day one. As of right now, it’s only interest and it’ll be intriguing to see if the Reds firm up their keenness with an official bid.
One thing is for certain, a new centre-back is atop the agenda, with Jean-Clair Todibo another name that has been linked.
