Our predicted MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup game vs Newcastle United is now in.
Manchester United’s season already feels close to over. We’re in October. The Red Devils have played some utterly dreadful stuff to start this campaign. It doesn’t look like changing anytime soon…
Last season’s saving grace was the Carabao Cup. It’s a competition the Old Trafford side will return to this midweek, though a game against Newcastle United will not be easy.
The Magpies will be hoping for some revenge after the 2-0 loss to United in the final, though the two sides are worlds apart in terms of footballing quality right now – and we’re not the ones on top…
We’re expecting the gaffer to ring the changes here, particularly after such a shoddy display at the weekend. At least a handful of new faces will likely be in the line-up, so let’s give you the full rundown.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Newcastle United in full here:
Andre Onana will keep his place in between the sticks, purely because I don’t believe Altay Bayindir is good enough – otherwise, we’d have already seen him by now.
Diogo Dalot is the only viable right-back option, despite his poor performance in the derby. He will play again. Over on the left, Sergio Reguilon starts. Victor Lindelof is afforded the luxury of moving back into the heart of defence alongside Raphael Varane.
Sofyan Amrabat only played a half at the weekend so he should be fresh enough to start here. I’m a firm believer in Mason Mount being deserving of an opportunity. Hannibal is another player who looked good when called upon early on in the season. Why not throw him back in?
Anthony Martial has waited patiently for his chance and this could be it. Let’s see what he’s got in a game from the start. To his right and left respectively is Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho. Let’s face it, the young lads cannot do any worse than the senior players.
