It has been confirmed that Casemiro is dealing with a hamstring strain.
Manchester United and injuries is now becoming a serious issue. It feels like every game, a new player is going down with a fresh problem. When you’re trying to compete for major honours, it can be disruptive, to say the least…
Wednesday’s match was a similar story. Casemiro was subbed at half-time due to an unknown problem, while Raphael Varane missed the game due to illness.
Now, we have been given further details on the Casemiro situation. The Man United star is said to be suffering from a hamstring strain, per The Athletic. As has already been confirmed, the Brazil midfielder will be missing for the Fulham game tomorrow, as the Reds’ injury woes continue to pile up.
Casemiro was our midfield rock last season. It’s fair to say he hasn’t been as productive this time around (so far anyway), though there has been no consistency all across the pitch. That hasn’t helped.
The severity of the issue is not yet known. A strain isn’t necessarily a longer-term problem, though with games coming thick and fast at this stage in the season, he could easily miss a couple more games before being back available for selection.
It just piles the pressure further on the likes of Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay to come in and perform – starting with Fulham at lunchtime tomorrow. Make no mistake about it, this game will not be easy.
At this point, I’m having my doubts about whether players like Casemiro and Varane are truly giving their all for the manager. These guys are winners. They’re not used to being in this situation. I can totally understand their frustration, too.
