Anthony Martial could be sold by Man United – but only if the right offer comes in for the Frenchman.
Manchester United have made way too many transfer mistakes recently. Erik ten Hag’s job has been made infinitely harder as a result. There are far too many players on the books that are on massive wages, while not necessarily deserving the money.
Perhaps no player epitomises that more than Anthony Martial. I don’t think it’s too harsh to say he hasn’t improved since signing for the club almost a decade ago. Yet he keeps being given new contracts (and first-team opportunities).
Under the new regime, United simply have to get better in that department. You look at the teams around us. They rarely make these mistakes with this regularity. Well, it seems as though the Red Devils are learning…
The United star would be allowed to leave if an ‘important proposal’ is made for his services, though if a decent offer does not arrive, Ten Hag is ‘happy’ to keep the ex-AS Monaco man as part of the ‘rotations’. That’s according to the reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano.

“I recently revealed that Juventus asked for information on Jadon Sancho as they consider a loan move for January, but I’m afraid fans asking me for updates since then are going to be disappointed because I don’t have anything just yet,” Romano said, per CaughtOffside.
“I don’t expect much to change very soon either because the key point with United right now is there will likely be changes to the board under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, so it will take some time to decide what to do.
“Martial, like some other player at United, remains on the same list: if they receive an important proposal, he could leave. Otherwise, they’re happy to keep him as part of rotations.”
You also have to factor in what Martial himself wants. Let’s be honest, I doubt he’s happy with the current amount of minutes he is being given. At some point, he has to put his career first. Surely he wants to be playing rather than rotting away on the bench?
It’s easy for me to say as it’s not my money, but I’d let him go for a minimal fee, purely just to get him off the books, free up some wage space and bring in someone who actually looks hungry to wear our badge with pride.
In terms of what I think will happen, Martial will probably stay until the summer, then someone will likely take a punt on him on a short-term loan deal, with the Reds still paying a hefty chunk of his wages…
