Man United are deep in discussions with youngster Ethan Wheatley, about signing his first professional contract.
Manchester United have always been willing to give youth a chance. That’s in their DNA. Recently, the club have moved away from that mantra, though it has worked for them so well in the past, I wish they returned to that.
The Old Trafford side still have some immensely gifted young footballers on their books that they could look to utilise going forward.
Ethan Wheatley certainly falls into that bracket.
Now, Manchester World have provided an update on his future, claiming that United are in ‘advanced talks’ with the youngster over signing his first pro deal.
The young forward has already been capped at England U17 level, with the club viewing Wheatley as one of their ‘brightest’ prospects on the books right now.
Wheatley played for the U18s last term, though this time around, he has been featuring at the U21 level, which tells you everything you need to know about his talent and ability.
He is now starting to attract interest from elsewhere as a result of his positive form, hence, United are looking to secure his short-term future. It is thought the player is happy at Old Trafford at this point in time.
Talks are said to be an ‘advanced’ stage, though no breakthrough is expected this side of Christmas.
At this point in his career, Wheatley should be focusing solely on his football as he looks to improve as a footballer. As soon as the deal is sorted, the better it’ll be for all involved.
ManchesterWorld also believe winger Omari Forson, who was a feature during pre-season tour, is also in line for a new deal.
