Man United have eyes on Le Havre defender, Arouna Sangante.
Manchester United have been struggling defensively this season. Perhaps it’s due to the Lisandro Martinez injury, while Raphael Varane doesn’t look anywhere close to his best.
It makes sense, then, to see the Red Devils weighing up their defensive options in the transfer market. Over the last 24 hours, a new name has been thrown into the ring; Arouna Sangante.
It’s Football Insider with the story. They say United are among the sides who have ‘set their sights’ on the 21-year-old. However, they’re not the only Premier League side who are keen, with Manchester City and Chelsea showing an interest.
The 21-year-old Senegalese-born centre-half has been described as one of the ‘hottest properties’ in French football by FI, with Sangante ‘firmly’ on the radar of some top English sides.
His ‘commanding performances’ have also caught the eye of Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.
What makes this transfer particularly interesting is the fact that Sangante could be available in January. Club owner Vincent Volpe has given an exclusive mandate to FIFA agent Willie McKay to sell the player in the mid-season window, as Le Havre are aware of growing interest.
He’s also captain of the French club, which also says a lot about his leadership qualities and overall skill. His current deal does not expire until 2026.
For United, this would allow them to get younger at a real position of need. They’re suddenly getting up there in age at the centre-back department, with Sangante definitely helping out in that aspect.
