Rasmus Hojlund’s availability for the Everton game this weekend remains up in the air.
Manchester United have not been able to catch a break of late, particularly on the injury front.
The Old Trafford side have been dealing without many first-team regulars for long periods. The Luton game was a similar story. Erik ten Hag would lose the Danes, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund, to problems. The former is out for about a month. The latter is expected back before the end of November.
Now, the Daily Mail have given a round-up on the Reds’ injury woes, including providing an update on Hojlund.
They state that the important United player is ‘still a doubt’ for Sunday’s game vs Everton with an ongoing hamstring problem. We’re now just a week away from the start of December, which was the initial prognosis given.
The good news is that the problem is not a long-term one so it shouldn’t be too long before we see Hojlund again. My issue here is largely to do with confidence levels. It just means it’ll delay his first Premier League goal even further.
In terms of replacements, United have two options. Either shift Marcus Rashford to the striker role and go with Alejandro Garnacho on the left, or give Anthony Martial an opportunity in the number nine slot. If I had to guess, Ten Hag will opt for the latter.
One thing is for certain, United need to start scoring more goals. They’re just not finishing off their chances at this moment in time, which is allowing the opponent a way back into the match. Hopefully, we see a change in that sense soon, starting with this weekend.
