Man United have lost another man through injury, this time it’s Facundo Pellistri who has gone down with a problem.
With Luke Shaw on the mend, it felt like Manchester United’s fortunes on the injury front were starting to turn. However, the international break has caused us some fresh problems…
First up, Andre Onana went down. Thankfully, his problem isn’t serious and he’s set to be good to go this weekend. Marcus Rashford is also in a similar position after picking up a knock while away with England.
Facundo Pellistri is the latest to be dealt a fresh injury blow. The news comes from the Manchester Evening News, who state that the starlet has picked up a problem while away with Uruguay. As a result, he’s now doubtful for the Everton game this weekend.
The severity of the issue, in fact, even the problem area is yet to be disclosed. However, Uruguay is pretty much on the other side of the planet. The long travel time coupled with any sort of minor issue makes it unlikely we’ll see Pellistri this Sunday. In the past, we’ve often seen our South Americans rested for the game after the international break even when they’re fit.
It just continues to become a serious problem for United. Whether it’s something that’s going on in training or just sheer bad luck remains to be seen, but these consistent injury issues simply have to stop soon if the club is serious about challenging for trophies and a spot in the top four.
At this stage I’m just pretty gutted for Pellistri. I assumed he was in line for a start against Everton due to the right-wing struggles at present. Obviously, Jadon Sancho isn’t involved at all while Antony is struggling. The harsh reality was that Pellistri may never get a better chance, particularly with Amad now on the mend.
Pellistri’s talent and ability is there for all to see. Whether he’s good enough to become a regular starter at the highest level remains to be seen, but this would have been a golden opportunity to prove his worth. Hopefully, the issue doesn’t keep him out for too long.
There was some good news from the MEN. They also state that Tyrell Malacia is edging closer to making his return.
