Man United make Marc Guehi their number one target for the January transfer window.
Just earlier today, we covered a claim which stated Antonio Silva was the ‘top target’ for Manchester United in the summer.
It seems clear that Erik ten Hag is prioritising a move to sign at least one central defender over the upcoming transfer periods. Given the current issues in that position, it does make sense.
Football Insider believe the Reds have another target – and one that could arrive in January, rather than waiting until after this season is done. They believe Marc Guehi is that man.
According to their sources, the Reds are said to be ‘planning (a) January move’ to sign the 23-year-old defender, who has been described as their ‘number one target’.
After some impressive performances, Guehi is said to be ‘firmly on the radar’ of Premier League giants ahead of a winter window that could be crucial for the Red Devils.
There can be no doubt that if money is available in the mid-season window, United should spend it. They’re bizarrely only six points off top spot right now. If one or two key signings are made, and players return from injury, that could make a major difference.
Guehi knows the Premier League game well. He’s experienced. Still young enough to mould into this system and also hungry to make a return to the top. It didn’t quite work out for him at Chelsea. No doubt he’s ready for another crack at the whip.
My only concern is the money. Even if Sir Jim Ratcliffe is confirmed as a minority stake owner by that point, can United bypass FFP and get this deal done?
